Visioning a Long Term Strategy
United States | 2017
The objective of the “Fundred” Revisioning project was to evaluate the past and current phases of the Fundred project, and to facilitate design and visioning sessions with the project team and stakeholders in order to synthesize a strategic direction for the next phase.
The Fundred Project is “an ongoing collective art project made by people across America. Their hand-drawn interpretations of $100 bills are original works of art that together call attention to the danger of childhood lead poisoning and remind us that every child’s future has value.”
Preliminary Evaluation
The preliminary evaluation phase focused on identifying key challenges to the implementation of the project vision.
Fundred Retreat
The Fundred Retreat had two primary purposes: to reflect on previous phases of the Fundred Project, and to creatively strategize possible ways the project can move into future phases. The retreat was broken down into four types of activities:
- Team Building Sessions
- Design and Visioning Workshops
- Focus Groups
- Storytelling
Recommendations
Vision
- Clarify the overall project vision and the short and long-term goals for each phase of the project.
- Work towards a concise presentation of the project that allows it to be quickly explained by team members and clearly understood by partner organizations, the public, teachers, students, etc
Engagement
- Reframe the project beyond a strictly art-context in the classroom to create alternative classroom activities.
- Create alternative spaces of engagement that allow for interactions among multiple audiences.
Communication
- In setting overall project goals, allow for realistic expectations given the team size, capacity, and limitations.
- Balance democratic decision making processes with moments that may require executive decision making and clear delegation of tasks.
